Genesis 2:1-3 King James Version
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

As stated in this verse, creation was completed and the creator now decided to place another day in the creation process for His own purpose. He made sure we understood this day was important to Him. As a matter of fact, He, GOD blessed it and sanctified it. So far there's not any other day, which HE indicated as a day of rest.

In addition, many may say - “this is the old testament”; everything is nailed to the cross. Nowhere in the bible it says the old testament is nailed to the cross much less the creation story. The only things nailed to the cross are the commandments in ordinances, judgments, and statues written by the hand of Moses. Please study our advance lesson "The Ten Commandments".

The following progressing verses easily show The Almighty GOD has not changed the day He blessed and sanctified:

Exodus 34:21 King James Version
Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

Deuteronomy 5:12-14 King James Version
Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee. 13 Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: 14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

Sadly, many would say – this only applies to Jews and Israelites. Question? Once again, how many Jews or Israelites were present during creation time? None! The Lord, Our Heavenly Father wanted all His creation to be aware there is a creator and He knew our bodies were created to rest at a specific interval in time. So did the ground, animals, and what not!

Isaiah 58:13-14 King James Version
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

Jeremiah 17:21-22 King James Version
Thus saith the Lord; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem; 22 Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.

These verses clearly indicate the 7th day is the one and only day, GOD Almighty declared Holy. Consequently, it is very important and relevant to HIM we keep it so. For it is a sign of acknowledgment He is the absolute creator and Lord!

Ezekiel 20:12 King James Version
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.

Mark 2:27-28 King James Version
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Hebrews 4:4-10 King James Version

Isaiah 66:22-23 King James Version
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

Many may encounter verses such as Colossians 2:8-17 in the new testament, which say no one should compel us to celebrate such days granted Jesus Christ is now our Savior! That is correct, Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer! By the grace of the Heavenly Father we are now saved by grace through faith! However, we still need to follow His moral commandments and remember the creation story. For this is how we will be able to worthy to enter the new earth and heaven He will recreate for us! Colossians 2 is simply referring to the feasts given to Moses by the Lord and not the creation and commandments items given to us!

At Antioch, Jesus's followers were for the first time called Christians; this is where the first Christian church was established and their worship day was on the 7th day. Jesus Himself went to meet with his brethren on the 7th day. Nowhere in the bible we would come across a verse or statement where Jesus would have suggested changing the day His and our heavenly father Blessed and Sanctified!
